This project is a community centre design for a First Nations organization based in Yellowknife, NWT.
The motto of the Dene Nahjo is “Land, Language, Culture, Forever”. This building manifests this motto with spaces that respond to, and change, over different timescales in regards to several metrics and phenomena. Some of these include a weathering facade, seasonally unconditioned spaces, and deliberate apertures. Through welcomed change and adaptation, this building can act as a vessel for the Dene Nahjo to grow for years to come. Project in collaboration with Alena Pavan.
